Isaac Meek started Undercaste Studios in 1995, in a backyard, on the strength of what he'd be the first to call an overconfident teenager's vision. 31 years later it's still his. Still owner-operated, no investors, no debt.
How it started
The studio took root in Barbara's backyard. Thanks are owed for that. And to Isaac's wife, who embraced studio life back when she was his girlfriend, and to their two kids.
It has been run by Isaac ever since, alongside a dedicated team of engineers and managers.
The people
The engineers are the studio. Artists ask for them by name, and have been asking for years. Which engineer you work with is the main thing that moves your rate, so it's worth picking on purpose.

Those four are the whole roster. Over 31 years a lot of other people have run these rooms, and they've since moved on. But Undercaste is grateful to every engineer and manager who has played a role in its success: Chuck Mills, KNDNM, Billy The Fridge, Teal Douville, Randy Ross (a big thanks!), Elliott Eide, Lincoln Nettleton, Nick Herrick, Andualem Wolde, Terek Holmes, and Reed Kinsila (just a little).
Traditionally this was a facility run solely by in-house Undercaste engineers. It now also offers sessions with vetted freelance engineers and producers in select rooms.
What happens here
Three recording studios and a podcast room. Rap, pop, EDM, auto-tune, singer-songwriters, small bands, and voiceover. Best known for top-tier mixing and mastering in rap and related genres. Also known for audio editing, cleanup and restoration, voiceover, audiobook recording, and audio post-production.
Where it's going
The long-standing goal is to help musicians and businesses forge a path to success in their musical dreams and their audio and video projects. Content creation matters more every year, and that's where the studio is putting its weight next.

We collect the information you provide when you request a booking: your name, artist name, email, phone number, and what you're looking to work on. We use it solely to respond to your request and schedule your session. We do not sell your information or share it with third parties for their own marketing.

When you submit a booking request with your phone number, you agree to receive booking and session-related text messages from Undercaste Studios (including via our AI assistant, Zoe) at that number. That's how we set up your session. These are booking and session messages only: we do not send promotional texts without a separate opt-in, and consent to promotional messages is never a condition of booking. Message frequency varies.
